I think it is safe to say that February was over in a flash, yet it seemed to drag on. Throughout the month, I worked on a campaign for the ASWSU president and VP. Leslie, my friend and sorority sister, was running for the VP position and I was there are her ever beckoning call. I think I attended at least a dozen debates that was just a repetition of the previous debate. After sleepless nights and days of endorsing my candidates, the ticket that I was campaigning for got the bad news that they would not be leading the students during the next school year. It was a great experience to be part of an election, even if it was only just for the associated student body.
Also during February, I attended Coug Day at the Capital. Julie and I packed up on a bus, along with another twenty students, and headed over to Olympia. Since sitting on the back of the bus was the cool thing to do, that is where Julie and I staked our territory. We had barely pulled away from the bus stop when drunken individuals started throwing up in buses tiny bathroom. Adam FP was the first to run to the restroom and Brandon S was next a close second, all before we had even gotten out of the town limits.
Not more than 45 minutes later, the bus started slowing down and eventually stopped on the side of the road. It turned out that our transmission had died and it would be a couple of hours. Jello and beer started being passed around the bus. Not more than 45 minutes later, the bus rolled to a stop on the side of the road with a dead transmission. Every passenger trickled off the bus and we all marched to the gas station a couple miles away to get more beer. After taking pictures in the middle of the highway and trudging through a swamp, we finally arrived at the gas station and stocked up on everything we would need. When we returned, it was not long until the next bus would arrive.
After loading our possessions onto the next bus, we christened the bus by toasting to the new bus. It wasn’t long until I was quite intoxicated and giving people nicknames. Brandon became ballcuzzi bandana boy and a kid named Sean got a similar nickname. Apparently, after a while, I had drunk a little too much and was quite crazy. We arrived at the hotel and had to get dressed for dinner. While in the elevator, headed down to the banquet, we met up with Dan Maer- our advisor. Dan is legally blind and commented on my drunken state. I tried to defer the accusations, but he knew very well that I was still quite inebriated.
After our banquet, my parents came to pick me up and take me shopping. I was still quite intoxicated when they arrived and when they dropped me off back at the hotel. It was nice to get the chance to see them. Once I got back, I headed down the hall to a friends room where we played drinking games before heading to the bar. The Urban Onion was a gay bar about half a block away, which made it quite easy for all of us to get there. There were only 3 locals at the bar that night and all of us. A guy I thought was kinda cute was at the bar, but he turned out to be kinda a creeper. He followed me back to my run and then would not leave. Somehow he got in to Julie and my room and he took one of my bras and left.
The next day we toured the capital building, met a few key people, and had some fun. Julie and I went to her house, which was also in Olympia for dinner. That was really fun and her mother is quite the good cook. When we returned, we made mimosas in the hotel room and hung out. On the last day we got to tour the governor’s mansion and then we jumped back on the bus and headed home. I enjoyed some more mimosas on the trip, but Brandon and a couple more people stank up the entire bus. It took us like 10 minutes to find some Lysol so that it smelled a little better. All in all, it was a great trip and I am so glad I signed up for it.
We also had initiation during February. I was really excited because my little sis got initiated and it was really fun. I made her initiation as memorable as I possibly could because I know my big didn’t do anything for mine. I have a new big now though and we have a lot of fun.
That was pretty much the extent of my February. So far March hasn’t been too exciting. I had some midterms and Spring Break started on the 8th. I have just been relaxing so far, but I am going to start doing ridiculously fun things for the rest of the week. I also get to on a leadership retreat which will hopefully be a lot of fun.
