I went to Walla Walla this weekend for a debate tournament. On the way there, I rode in this scary van that was all over the road, and the people didn’t talk much, and it was like, yeah, this is fun. The people in the other van were like dancing, and making signs and things, and it was like, I am riding in that van from now on. We got to this hole in the wall motel. It wasn’t the worst I have seen, but it was bad. The potty and hot water on the sink didn’t work, and the fridge didn’t close.
Then, even though I didn’t have to do anything that night, because I wasn’t competing in a certain event, we had to get dressed up anyways. We went to Safeway to get food for our trip. We got to the campus, and didn’t do anything. So when the people dispersed to compete, we, those who weren’t competing, went with them, to watch. Andie and I went to watch David. He was in the second “flight.” So we had to wait for the people to finish, and so we went out to the hall, where some dudes were watching tv and we talked to them. When David was up, we watched him, and he was competing against this guy that was like a foot and a half taller than me. We went back to Reed Center, which is a building on the Whitman campus. A couple people and I went and walked around the campus. It was jolly fun. We did some funny things. This one guy mooned someone and this chick flashed this person. Then we went to go find a party. We couldn’t find one though.
We went back to the motel a while later. I got stuck bunking with these people I didn’t like. They were like “its 9:00. Lets go to sleep, that fun.” They wanted me to go to bed at like 11. I cant to that. So I played Zelda for a while. The next day I had to compete. From like 9 to 11 I was running around. I almost missed one of my first speeches. I had to do impromptu speeches. My first one was on air; my second was about a quote about not trying or something. We had like all day to do nothing. Andy, this funny guy, bought these dart guns. You put the foam dart into the front, and then you would squeeze on the back, and it would pop out. We had a lot of fun with those. Then Steven hit David, and David went to go hit Steven and hit this old man. So then we couldn’t play with them anymore. Josh, this dude, made this “devil voice” because some other person was trying to make a devil voice, and it was so funny, I cried and almost peed my pants. Later that day I did another speech and another impromptu. This time, for my impromptu, my topic was chair. All of my speeches sucked. I also had student congress, and that sucked too. A bunch of people and I went out again. We were going to play hide and seek, and the people that I was with didn’t want to go find the people, and I felt bad, but we went to the Reed Center again. When we got back to the motel, the people I was bunking with watched dateline and Martha the embezzler was on and I hate Martha, and I have always hated Martha. And they wouldn’t change the channel, and I wanted to strangle someone.
On Saturday, I just had student congress, which is kind of like real congress, but not. The rest of the day we just sat around and played PS2. I played Andy like 5 times in football and I kicked his ass each time. He was like “I don’t think you’re a girl.” Then I played Liam, and if I would have just kicked the damn ball, I could have beaten him. I sucked at rugby though. I didn’t know what was going on, I have never even seen a rugby game, but I was doing better than some people. Then after the tournament ended on Saturday, we were going to go eat and then bowl. We went to Jack in the Box, and I had never eaten at Jack in the Box, and it was good. Then we went to the bowling alley, and they gave away the lanes we had reserved, so we went and partied at the hotel and played Battle of the Sexes and Pictionary. After we played battle of the sexes, we were reading off random cards, and I read the card that said “what is vodka made out of” and it was a card for the girls originally. 1 guy got the answer. The rest said its made from alcohol. Its made from freaking potatoes, usually. Then we were playing Pictionary, and someone left, and my partner, who was also good at Pictionary, became partners with the person whos partner left, and then this dude joined. Like I would have gotten them. Then he would like draw nothing and say “I can’t draw” and I wanted to say “why the hell are you playing then?” Then when we were forced to go to bed, I took the remote and turned SNL on and hid the remote. Dave Matthews was on SNL and I turned it on like right when he was about to sing. It was great. So that was good. I packed and went to bed. The next morning, I got up early and when the alarm went off, the people were like really bitchy. I got the good van for the ride home; I made sure I got out there early. I had been riding in the other van since the trip there, and I want going to get stuck in the stupid van.
